The Alberton Museum is located at 457 Church Street within the historic walls of what originally served as the Alberton Courthouse since 1878. Constructed by James Wiggins & Sons under the 1873 Prince Edward Island County Courts Act, it functioned as a courthouse until 1978. The museum was established in 1964 by Mrs. W.R. Oulton, who initially displayed her private collection in a barn before moving to the courthouse in 1980. Today, the building houses an extensive array of artifacts, local photographs, and genealogical information, standing as a testament to the rich cultural heritage of Alberton. It also includes the West Prince Genealogy Centre, providing a deep dive into local family histories.
